Release Notes for the Summer 09 Service Pack 2 Release of Altium Designer

Summer 09 Service Pack 2 Build 9.2.0.18802 (from Build 9.1.0.18363)

PCB

• After Undoing a component footprint change (following Component Properties), Undo successfully replaced the footprint, but some manipulation was required to re-enable display of the component. This display issue has been corrected.
• Interactive Route tool no longer creates full circle arcs when using Arc Corners in Walkaround or Stop at First Obstacle modes.
• When importing Protel 99 SE binary PCB designs, Bottom layer SMD component pads could be imported as a zero-sized round shapes. The sizes and shapes of Bottom layer SMD pads are now imported correctly.
• The diagram Width controls in the Routing Width Rule dialog spontaneously reset from 'N/A' to 0 units when dialog OK or Apply is selected. This issue has been corrected.
• Fixed DirectX drawing problem where objects would disappear from the screen after batch DRC was run.

Schematic

• A bug introduced in Altium Designer Summer 08 where multiple unlocked pins in a SCHDOC couldn't be dragged has been fixed.
• The =Description special string works in title blocks again.

FPGA

• Support for Xilinx Spartan-6 devices have been added.
• Connecting arbiters in OpenBus document no longer causes a stack overflow crash to occur.
• Additional support for NanoBoard 3000 Altera edition revision 2 (NB3000AL.02) has been added - including support for M25P32 SPI flash devices and examples update.
• Support for PB30 Prototyping peripheral board has been added for NanoBoard 3000.
• Altera QuartusII and NiosII v9.1 are now supported.
• While multiple FPGA are included in the JTAG chain, re-programming one device no longer causes the instrument panels of soft devices belonging to other FPGA to disappear.
• Digit panels in Digital IO instrument rack are now properly painted, especially when slider controls are used.
• It is now possible to use the Synplicity for Actel synthesizer with a node locked license - Synplify will be launch the same way it is launched in Actel Libero.
• Additional colors have been added to the LEDs, LEDs Digit and Bar controls of the Digital IO soft instrument.
• Closing the OpenBus Signal Manager dialog, after been invoked through the Configure Memory Controller dialog, now properly save or ignore changes made to the memory controllers.
• A memory leak no longer occurs when refreshing the Devices View while a NanoBoard is connected and a project with a valid constraint file for the targeted device is open.
• Support for NanoBoard 3000 Xilinx edition revison 5 (NB3000XN.05) has been added.
• Space characters are no longer inserted into the default project and configuration name proposed by the PCB to FPGA Project Wizard.
• Timing constraints are now properly passed to Actel Designer while the Synplicity for Actel synthesizer has been set.
• The Altium Synthesizer is no longer taking a very long time to synthesize large blocks of uninitialized memory instantiated by the Configurable FIFO component.
• A horizontal scroll bar has been added to the Browse Physical Devices dialog to improve readability in case of multiple devices shown.

System-level

• There is now an "Include Not Fitted Components" option in the BOM, which includes components that are not fitted in the current variant. When the "Include Not Fitted Components" option is used, a Fitted column appears, containing the value "Fitted" or "Not Fitted" for each component. The Quantity value for not-fitted components is 0. • The Enter key should now work correctly in the built-in Web browser.
• Open All Source Documents in the Projects panel no longer opens Documentation files.
• The Save Design Workspace command no longer saves projects and Free documents as a side effect.
• Many dialogs now remember where you moved them, and appear in the same position on subsequent appearances.
• Searches in slow or unresponsive Supplier Web services now time out after 15 seconds, instead of blocking indefinitely.
• Bookmarks now zoom to the correct location when you create a mirrored PCB printout using Smart PDF or Publish to PDF (in all kinds of prints now, not just PCB Prints as in Altium Designer Winter 09 SP1).

Embedded

• When setting graphics screen rotation to 90 or 270 degrees the resulting width and height are now correctly stored in the canvas.
• The software platform now properly generates characters when multiple keys are pressed and released simultaneously on a USB keyboard connected to the NanoBoard 3000.
• When using the Software Platform's text display feature to write text to the NanoBoard 3000 TFT, the screen will now be refreshed automatically so the result becomes visible immediately.

Library Management

• The 'Designator' parameter in the scripting process 'IntegratedLibrary:PlaceLibraryComponent' works again.
