Connecting the NanoBoard NB2

Before you can communicate with (and download a design to) the NanoBoard NB2 (NB2DSK01), the board needs to first be prepared. This involves connecting it to your PC, installing your daughter board and supplying power to the system.

To set up the NanoBoard NB2, complete the following steps:

  1. Ensure the power switch, located on the top right-hand corner of the board, is off (positioned upwards) before commencing installation.
     

    Ensure the power switch is off.
     
  2. Connect NanoBoard NB2 to your PC via either the computer's USB 2.0 port (a) or parallel port (b).
     

    Connect to the PC via USB or parallel ports.
     
    1. Connect the USB cable to a spare USB 2.0 port on your PC. Connect the header plug of the USB cable to the USB port on the top-right edge of the NanoBoard, or,
    2. Connect the parallel cable to the parallel port on your PC. Connect the header plug of the parallel cable to the NanoTalk parallel socket on the NanoBoard.
       
  3. Install a daughter board onto the NanoBoard. This is done by gently positioning it so that its connectors are aligned with the corresponding daughter board connectors on the NanoBoard. Once located, press the daughter board firmly onto the NanoBoard. Use the threaded standoffs to secure the daughter board to the motherboard.

  4. Connect the plug of the power supply module to either of the power connectors located on the top right corner of the NanoBoard.
     

    Connect the plug of the power supply to the NanoBoard.
     
  5. Connect the mains power cord to the power supply module and plug it in to a standard power socket.
     

    Insert power cable.
     
  6. Turn on NanoBoard power switch, located on top right-hand corner of the NanoBoard by flicking the power switch to the downward position. Six LEDs located on the underside of the attached Desktop Stereo Speaker Assembly NB2DSK-SPK01 will become illuminated to reflect that power is available. In addition, the TFT LCD panel will display an intro screen.
     

    Turn the power switch on.
     

    Before adding or removing peripheral or daughter boards, ensure power is off.
