WB_I2S - Configuration

Frozen Content

The WB_I2S Controller can be configured after placement on the OpenBus System document, or schematic sheet, using the associated configure dialog (Figure 1). Access to this dialog depends on the document in which you are working:

  • In the OpenBus System document – access the dialog by right-clicking over the component and choosing the Configure command from the menu that appears. Alternatively, double-click on the component to access the dialog directly.
  • In the Schematic document – simply right-click over the device and choose the Configure command from the context menu that appears. Alternatively, click on the Configure button, available in the Component Properties dialog for the device.

Use the dialog to configure the following options:

I2S Channels

The WB_I2S can be configured to operate solely as a transmitter or receiver, or both.

I2S Hardware Buffer

Use this region of the dialog to take advantage of using a much larger buffer for the enabled Transmit and/or Receive sections of the device. By enabling the Include HW Buffer option, the associated drop-down list will become accessible – allowing you to choose the size of buffer required:

  • 1k samples (giving a 1024 x 24-bit word FIFO buffer)
  • 2k samples (giving a 2048 x 24-bit word FIFO buffer)
  • 4k samples (giving a 4096 x 24-bit word FIFO buffer)
  • 8k samples (giving a 8192 x 24-bit word FIFO buffer)

If this option is disabled, the built-in FIFO buffer will be used for each section. This is a much smaller buffer – providing only 32 x 24-bit words.

To configure the WB_I2S in 'Legacy Mode' (used as per the I2S_W peripheral), simply set the I2S Channels option to Receive and Transmit, and disable the Include HW Buffer option.
