Fine-Grained Software Locate Control

In the Summer 09 release of Altium Designer, the Project Options dialog for an embedded project was equipped with the Locate Options tab – providing you with options to determine, with greater control, how each of the physical device memories in your FPGA design are used by your embedded software application. Now, Altium Designer allows you to fine-tune code and data location in memory at the individual module-, function-, variable-, or constant-level.

Simply click the relevant symbol(s) – in the Code and Constants or Variables and Data sections – to drill down to a specific module, function, variable, or constant, then define the required memory locate options for it accordingly.

Drill down to a specific module, function, variable or constant, to fine tune its location within the physical memory.

The Size column lets you know just how much space in memory each entity requires, reported in bytes.
