Status Reporting Tool

This documentation page references Altium Vault, which has been discontinued. All your PCB design, data management and collaboration needs can now be delivered by Altium Designer and a connected Altium 365 Workspace.

The Altium Vault comes with a neat little tool for generating a status report for your Altium Vault - the Altium Vault Status Report tool. The generated report includes all necessary debug information in one tidy Zip archive (*.zip). This is all that's needed to send to Altium Developers, should you have any unexpected technical difficulties with your Altium Vault.

For a far more powerful, dashboard-style tool, that you can use to interrogate the health of your Vault installation yourself, look to the Altium Vault Health Monitor. This standalone tool provides a visual summary of the state of the host machine, the Vault storage system and the Vault Services. The tool also includes context related hints, information and paths to important locations and log files, which allows Vault Administrators to preemptively detect and resolve any issues that may affect Vault users. The tool also provides a built-in Status Report interface, used to create and display Vault status report files, and export a single, collated zip file for sharing with Altium Developers.

Information Collected

The following debug information is collected by the tool for inclusion in the report:

  • IIS information
  • IIS Internal Logs
  • Altium Vault logs
  • Setup logs
  • Altium Vault Backup Tool log
  • Data provider info
  • .NET Framework configuration
  • Windows events related to IIS
  • Basic Windows configuration/Installed software list
  • Folder permissions
  • HTML services response
  • Database information
  • Firebird information

Running the Tool

The tool is accessed by running the executable avstatus.exe. This executable can be found in the \Program Files (x86)\Altium\Altium Vault\Tools\StatusReportTool folder, for a default installation of the Altium Vault.

Double-click the avstatus.exe file - the Altium Vault Status Report dialog will appear. Simply enable the option I agree to share this data with Altium, then click the Collect the information button.

The tool will proceed to collect and collate the required information, with progress displayed in the Operation log window. Once finished collecting the data, the Save As dialog will appear. Use this to specify where, and with what name, the report file is to be saved. The saving operation is also reflected, back in the tool's main window.

That's it. All you then need to do is send the report file (e.g. AltiumVaultStatus-05052017.zip) to the Altium Developers when requested.
