Interactive Differential Pair and Multi-trace (Bus) Routing

Frozen Content

Two new interactive routing tools have been added for better handling of differential pairs and multi-trace bus routing. Based on the interactive routing engine introduced in Summer '08, similar commands and features make its use intuitive and easy to use. The same conflict resolution modes are supported such as Push, Hug and Push, and Walkaround. There is also a None mode. Layer changing is also supported in the same way as the Interactive Route Tool for the following:

  • Next Layer,
  • Previous Layer,
  • Switch Layer for Current Trace,
  • Add Fanout Via and suspend,
  • Add Via (No Layer Change).

Similar to the Interactive Routing Tool, the Favorite Widths and Via Sizes can be chosen interactively, and the sources for the Track Width and Via Size can also be changed interactively. Routing corner styles of 45 and 90 are supported. The tools can also support different track widths in the bus (or differential pair).

Via patterns decided by the tool can be toggled between perpendicular to the route or staggered. They can also be toggled interactively.

Route can be completed by moving the cursor over the target object indicated by the connection line and clicking, or can be AutoCompleted by pressing Control+Click. The spacing between tracks in the bus (or the gap in differential pairs, if the rules allow it) can be increased or decreased interactively as you route by pressing a hot key. The Interactive Differential Pair Router also supports the Min/Preferred/Max gap rules.
