Important Changes To Altium Designer 6
Changes to release names
Altium Designer 6.0 includes a new release numbering scheme as follows:
X.y.z.aaaa (for example 6.0.2.5245)

| X | 6 | The major release number | A new license is required for major releases |
| x | 0 | The minor release number | Contains major enhancements and resolves issues |
| z | 0 | The build number | Contains minor enhancements and resolves issues |
| aaaa | The internal build number | A unique 4-digit number which is used internally to identify the build number |
All minor releases and new builds are freely available to customers with a valid Altium Designer 6.x license.
Changes to licensing
The licensing options for Altium Designer 6.0 have changed. There are now four options available:
- Foundation license
- Board Implementation license
- Embedded Intelligence Implementation license
- The Complete Electronic Product Development System license
Changes to the preference settings
A number of changes have been made to the preferences between Altium Designer 2004 Service Pack 4 and Altium Designer 6.0. The preferences can be exported from Altium Designer 2004 and imported into Altium Designer 6.0. Any new preference settings will be enabled in Altium Designer 6.0 with their default settings.
The following changes have been made to the preference settings between Altium Designer 2004 SP4 and Altium Designer 6.0.
