The System - General page of the Preferences dialog.

Summary

The System – General page of the Preferences dialog provides controls relating to the general settings of the general workspace.

Access

The System – General page is part of the main Preferences dialog (DXP >> Preferences) and is accessed by clicking the General entry under the System folder, in the left hand pane of the dialog.

Options/Controls

Startup

• Reopen Last Workspace - Enable this option to open the previous work space last saved in the software when the application is started. Disable this option to start a new work space session when the software is started up.
• Open Home Page if no documents open - Enable this option to display the software's Home Page with tasks document where you can open a project, obtain help, retrieve system information or configure the version control system etc. Disable this option to not display this Home page at all.
• Show startup screen - Enable this option if you want to observe the Start Up Screen when the software is being loaded into computer memory. This will provide a visual feedback that the software is loading (can take a while depending on whether previous workspaces with projects are being opened or not). Disable this option not to see the start up screen.

General

• Monitor clipboard content within this application only - Enable this option to monitor the clipboard when copying and pasting data within the software. Sometimes non- compliant data is copied to the clipboard, and with this option enabled, the data is not pasted within the software. Disable this option and the clipboard is not monitored for different types of data.
• System Font - Enable this option to use system font. Enable this option will activate Change button.
• Change - Click this button to choose a system font to affect all the interactive text of dialogs in the software.

Reload Documents Modified Outside of Altium Designer

• Never - Never reload documents modified outside of the software.
• Ask User - Before reloading documents outside of the software, ask user for permission, this will activate Only If Documents Is Modified option.
  • Only If Documents Is Modified - Enable this option to reload modified documents outside of the software.
• Always - Always reload documents modified outside of the software.

Localization

• Use localized resources- The Localized Resources are the installed locale languages used for the software. The software platform supports Simplified Chinese, Japanese, German and French language locale installations.

  Click this option to enable the Locale Language to be used for the application. Choose the sub-options to control which dialogs, hints and menus to be translated with the installed language.
  
  By default, this option is disabled, and the Standard English is the default setting for all menus, hints and dialogs in the software.

  • Display localized dialogs - Choose this option to display localized dialogs.
  • Display localized hints only - Choose this option to only have localized hints but not localized dialogs. Localized resources is based on the language installation.
  • Localized menus - Enable this option to have localized menus, that is all menu items are translated according to the language installed on the machine that the software is installed in.
