The Place Predefined Harness Connector dialog allows designer to edit the properties of the harness connector to be placed.

Options/Controls

Harness Connectors

  • Harnesses Connector List - This is a list of pre-defined harness connectors as well as existing harness connectors from the currently opened projects in Altium Designer. The pre-defined harness connectors by default are from the Altium Designer's\Library\Device Sheets\ sub folder. Choose one of the following harness connectors in this list and then you can add ports and/or signal harnesses and adjust their properties on the right of this dialog before you close this dialog.
  • Filter - In this field enter the filter string. The search is filtered that match the filter string. You can use any character or a series of characters as a wildcard in the Filter field. For example, type the string m to display all files that start with the letter m.

Additional Objects

  • Add Port - Enable this option to automatically create a port for this connector when it is placed on the schematic sheet.
  • Name - Enter a port name that will be defined for the new port attached to the pre-defined harness connector. The default name is HarnessPort.
  • Width - Enter a new value for this Port width. The default value is 50 units long. You can always graphically resize the attached port after you have placed the new harness connector.
  • Auto - Enable this option and the port's width is automatically resized depending on the size of the port's text. By default this option is disabled and the width of 50 units is used instead.
  • Add Signal Harness - Enable this option to automatically create a signal harness for this connector when it is placed on the schematic sheet.
  • Harness Length -  Enter a value for the harness length. You can always graphically resize the signal harness after you have placed the new harness connector.
  • Sort Harness Entries - Check this option to sort the harness entries when it is placed.
