Properties

  • Designator - This field shows the name of the sheet symbol, however if this sheet symbol is used as a link to a multi-channel design, enter a Repeat(ChannelName, First, Last) keyword with the channel name, first channel and the last channel parameters.

For multi-channel designs, there is one schematic sheet but with multiple Tabs for each channel and the designator assignments for each channel are stored in a Designator Table (Project » View Channels). This field shows the text of the sheet symbol designator.

  • X-Location - The field specifies the X coordinate of the position of the starting point for the text. To change the position of the text, enter the coordinate value in this field. The text can also be moved graphically by clicking and dragging directly on the text with the mouse.
  • Y-Location - The field specifies the Y coordinate of the position of the starting point for the text. To change the position of the text, enter the coordinate value in this field. The text can also be moved graphically by clicking and dragging directly on the text with the mouse.
  • Orientation - This field specifies the rotation of the text relative to the horizontal. Select an orientation from the drop-down list. Text can be rotated in 90 degree increments. The text can also be rotated graphically. To do this, click-and-hold the mouse over the text and then press the SPACEBAR to rotate it. While holding the mouse button you can also reposition the text by dragging the mouse.
  • Color - Click the color sample to change the color of the text.
  • Font - Click this button to open the Font dialog, which allows you to select the font and style used for the sheet symbol name text.
  • Horizental Anchor - Choose one of the following anchor types to move the text alongside when the parent object that is the sheet symbol is being re-resized.
    • None - The text object (sheet symbol name) is moved adjacent to the sheet symbol and maintaining its same relative position.
    • Both - The text object is moved in both directions equally.
    • Left - The text object is moved towards the left side.
    • Right - The text object is moved towards the right side.
  • Vertical Anchor - Choose one of the following anchor types to move the text alongside when the parent object that is the sheet symbol is being re-resized.
    • None - The text object (sheet symbol name) is moved adjacent to the sheet symbol and maintaining its same relative position.
    • Both - The text object is moved in both directions equally.
    • Top - The text object is moved towards the top side.
    • Bottom - The text object is moved towards the bottom side.
  • Auto Position - Enable this option and the text string is repositioned to maintain its alignment in relation to its parent object when this object is rotated or mirrored. For example when the text is originally horizontal and the sheet symbol is rotated to a vertical position, the text is still horizontal. Disable this option and the text is rotated or mirrored corresponding to its parent object.
  • Hide - If this option is enabled, the sheet symbol name text is not displayed on the schematic.
  • Locked -  If this option is checked, the Sheet Symbol Name is protected from being edited graphically. Lock a Sheet Symbol Name whose position or size is critical. If you try to edit a design object that is locked, you will be informed that this object is locked and asked if you wish to proceed with the action. If this option is unchecked, the design object can be freely edited without confirmation.

If the Protect Locked Objects option is enabled in the Schematic - Graphical Editing page of the Preferences dialog (Tools » Schematic Preferences), and the Locked option for this design object is enabled as well then this object cannot be edited.
