The Harness Entry Dialog.

Summary

The Harness Connector Entry dialog allow designers to edit the properties of Harness Entry on schematic. 

Access

The Harness Entry dialog can be accessed prior to entering placement mode, from the Schematic - Defaults Primitives page of the Preferences dialog (DXP » Preferences). This allows you to change the default properties for the Harness Entry object, which will be applied when placing subsequent Harness Entry.

After placement, the Harness Entry dialog can be accessed in one of the following ways:

  • double-clicking on the placed Harness Entry
  • selecting the harness entry and choosing Properties from the right-click pop-up menu (Schematic Editor only)
  • choosing the Change command from the Edit menu and then clicking once over the harness entry.

Options/Controls

Appearance

  • Text Color - Click the color sample to change the color of the entry.
  • Text Style - The Text Style determines how the text for this harness entry is displayed on the schematic sheet.
    • Full Choose this option to display the net identifier information in full. For example the N[0..7] net identifier string will be shown in full.
    • Prefix - Choose this option to only display the prefix string. For example N[0..7] will be shown as N only.
  • Text Font - Click this button to open the Font dialog, which allows you to select the font and style to use for the text contained within the text box.

Properties

  • Name - Enter the name that uniquely identifies this harness entry within this harness connector. All entries withn the same connector must be unique.
  • Position - This field specifies the position of harness entry within the harness connector. Enter a number in this field that specifies the number of grid points down from the top edge of the harness connector to position the harness entry.
  • Harness Type - Choose an harness type from the list of available harness types for this harness entry to be attached within.

A signal harness system has a corresponding harness type.

  • Locked - If this option is checked, the harness entry is protected from being edited graphically. Lock an harness entry whose position or size is critical. If you try to edit a design object that is locked, you will be informed that this object is locked and asked if you wish to proceed with the action. If this option is unchecked, the design object can be freely edited without confirmation.

Note if the Protect Locked Objects option is enabled in the Schematic - Graphical Editing page of the Preferences dialog (Tools » Schematic Preferences), and the Locked option for this design object is enabled as well then this object cannot be edited.
