Set Component Reference Location

Summary

This command is used to set the component reference point to a user-defined location. First, the component footprint set to the reference point for is selected in the Components list in the PCB Library panel (which is the active component footprint).

After launching the command, the cursor will change to a crosshair and you will be prompted to select a new origin. Position the cursor at the point you wish to make the reference and click. The reference point will be set to this chosen location of the footprint and this point will be set to 0, 0 - ie. it becomes the new relative origin and all primitives will have their locations updated relative to this point.

Availability

In PCB Library Editor, run command Edit » Set Reference » Location.

Notes

This reference point is actually the relative origin for the workspace and is the point by which the component footprint is picked-up by the cursor in place and move operations.
