Summary

This command is used to interrogate the Hard Devices chain and report all physical FPGA devices that are detected. This command is only available when the Devices view is configured to be 'Live'. To enter this mode, ensure that the Live option in the Devices view is enabled.

After launching the command, the Scanning Hard-Devices JTAG Chain dialog will appear listing all physical FPGA devices that are found along the chain. For each device, the following information Vendor, Family, Device, Package, Speed Grade, Temperature Grade, ID Code) will be listed.

Notes

A physical FPGA device may be located on a NanoBoard or a User/Production board that is connected to a NanoBoard. In the case of a NanoBoard, the board will have a single physical FPGA device associated with it, located on a Daughter Board plug-in.

The devices listed in the dialog will be those that appear on the Hard Devices chain in the Devices view.

The host computer is connected to the NanoBoard(s) via a single JTAG link. Multiplexing at both ends (NanoBoard Controller and host software) enables the three distinct chains - NanoBoard Controllers, Hard Devices and Soft Devices - to be interrogated, or scanned, over this single JTAG link.
