Summary
This command is used to access the Instrument Panel for the currently focused Nexus-enabled device, in the Soft Devices chain of the
Devices view.
Details
This command is only available when the
Devices view is configured to be 'Live'. To enter this mode, ensure that the
Live option in the
Devices view is enabled.
Ensure that the Nexus-enabled device whose controls (Instrument Panel) you wish to access, currently has the focus in the Soft Devices chain of the view. A device on the chain is given the focus simply by clicking on its corresponding icon in the chain.
After launching the command, the Instrument Rack for the Soft Devices will appear, with the Instrument Panel for the focused device visible.
The controls available on the Instrument Panel will depend on the type of Nexus-enabled device. For MCUs, controls will be available to ultimately debug the processor core. For virtual instruments, such as Logic Analyzers, the controls will be geared towards using the instrument within the running FPGA design.
Notes
The controls (Instrument Panel) for a Nexus-enabled device can also be accessed by double-clicking on the icon for that device, in the Soft Devices chain.
Each Nexus-enabled device in the chain will only appear in the Instrument Rack after its corresponding icon has been specifically double-clicked, or this command has been run.
The Nexus 5001 standard is used as the protocol for communications between the host and all devices that are debug-enabled with respect to this protocol. Nexus-enabled devices include all debug-enabled (OCD version) microcontrollers and the various virtual instruments that can be used in a design (frequency generators, frequency counters, digital I/O modules and logic analyzers).
