Summary

This command is used to access the Instrument Panel for the currently focused physical device, in the Hard Devices chain of the Devices view.

Details

This command is only available when the Devices view is configured to be 'Live'. To enter this mode, ensure that the Live option in the Devices view is enabled.

Ensure that the FPGA device whose controls (Instrument Panel) you wish to access, currently has the focus in the Hard Devices chain of the view. A device on the chain is given the focus simply by clicking on its corresponding icon in the chain.

After launching the command, the Instrument Rack for the Hard Devices will appear, with the Instrument Panel for the focused device visible.

The Instrument Panel provides reference information concerning the mapping of ports in the FPGA project to physical pins of the device. Information is also given about the polarity and type of each physical pin.

Controls allow you to filter only assigned I/O pins of the device and to also enable live updating. With this feature enabled, a column of LEDs is displayed – one LED per physical pin. As you interact with the design, affected pins will toggle state, which is reflected in the state of the corresponding LEDs on the Instrument Panel.

Notes

The controls (Instrument Panel) for a physical device can also be accessed by double-clicking on the icon for that device, in the Hard Devices chain.

Each physical device in the chain will only appear in the Instrument Rack after its corresponding icon has been specifically double-clicked, or this command has been run.
