Opening Internet links in an External Web Browser

There are many areas within Altium Designer where clicking on a link will result in the display of internet-based content. Altium Designer provides the ability to view this content either directly inside the Altium Designer environment or, should you prefer, as externally loaded content in your default web-browser.

The option to control where the internet-based content will open can be found on the System – View page of the Preferences dialog (DXP»Preferences). By default, this option is not enabled.


Altium Designer gives you control of where internet-based content is displayed.

Places within the software where you will encounter internet-based content include:

  • Following a link to a page within the Altium Wiki
  • Following a link to a TRAININGcenter or DEMOcenter video
  • Following a link to the SUPPORTcenter
  • Following a link to a page of the Altium Website.


View content such as Wiki pages externally, in the comfort of your default web-browser!
