Altium Designer Environment Preferences

Altium Designer streamlines the setting of environment options across all document editors and servers, by centralizing these options within a single, context-sensitive dialog - the Preferences dialog (Figure 17). Featuring a tree-like navigation structure, the dialog not only allows you to quickly and efficiently set system-wide preferences, but also load and save favorite preference settings, giving you still greater control over your working environment.

Access this dialog by selecting DXP»Preferences from the main menu bar, in any editor. From within an editor, you can also access it using the relevant Preferences command, for example Tools»Schematic Preferences from the schematic editor main menu.

Click on the What's This Help button at the top right of the dialog , then click on a specific option in the dialog for more information about that option.

Saving your Preferences

Preferences can be saved and loaded using the Save and Load buttons located at the bottom of the Preferences dialog. Your preferences will be stored in a compressed format in the file DXPPreferences1.DXPPrf.

Preferences can also be imported from previous versions of Altium Designer. Use the Import From button to display a list of previous versions detected on your system.
