The PCB editor is a true 3 dimensional design environment, presenting an accurate representation of the actual board in the 3D View Mode. Switching between 2D and 3D modes is as simple as pressing 2 or 3 on the keyboard.

Previously, when you switched from one view mode to the other you would always be looking at the same region of the board. This is no longer the case, the two views are now completely separate. Each view mode retains the previous view orientation, zoom and layer configurations as it last displayed. Design-type features, such as filtering or highlighting a net using Ctrl+Click continue to function across both 2D and 3D, retaining that ability to examine the design in fine detail.

The configuration of the 2D and 3D views are completely separate now, switching will always return you to the last used orientation in that view.
