The STEP Export Options Dialog.

Summary

This dialog provides controls related to exporting step files.

Access

Run command File >> Save As, by selecting .STEP as the file extension, then click Save, the STEP Export Options dialog will appear.

Options/Controls

Component With 3D Bodies

Select an option as to which components to include in the exported STEP file. The options are designed to offer a choice between full and limited detail in order to speed up the export process and reduce file size.

Export All - Includes all components in the exported file. This option is slower and increases size of the exported file.
Export Selected - Includes only specifically selected components in the exported file. This option is faster and reduces size of the exported file.

Board cutouts are always included in the STEP export.

Selecting specific components or holes to export is easier in 2D. If you want to export only the board, select nothing in the document whilst choosing the Export Selected option. Non-PCB mounted, free-floating 3D bodies will also be included in the STEP export. To not include them, use the Export Selected option, without the free-floating 3D bodies selected.

3D Bodies Export Options

These options apply to components that have both extruded (simple) 3D bodies and STEP model 3D bodies assigned to them.

Prefer simple bodies - Will export the extruded (simple) 3D body version of the component.
Prefer STEP models - Will export the STEP 3D body version.
Prefer both simple bodies & STEP models - Will export both extruded and STEP 3D body versions.

If only extruded 3D bodies are available for components, they will always be exported.

Pad Holes

Select an option as to which holes to include in the exported STEP file. The options are designed to offer a choice between full and limited detail in order to speed up the export process and reduce file size.

Export All - Includes all holes in the board. This option is slower and increases size of the exported file.
Export Selected - Includes only the holes that are specifically selected. This option is faster and reduces size of the exported file.

Component Suffix

Specify component suffix for the exported components.

None - No suffix applied to components.
STEP Filename - Use step file name as component suffix.
Custom - Customize component suffix by entering a string in text box below.
