Altium Designer 10 delivers a range of performance improvements, when compared to the previous Summer 09 release. Areas benefiting from improved performance include:
- Workspace and Project opening and closing.
- Schematic and PCB file loading and closing.
- Documents stored on a slow network.
- Application memory usage has been optimised, lowering memory footprint requirements.
- File Locking and Modified File checks.
- Menu responsiveness when a large workspace is in use.
- Increased Building/Rebuilding/Editing Speeds for Split Planes. Loading/Rebuilding is now between 2 and 4 times faster than in the Summer 09 release, with editing now between 10 and 20 times faster!
- Software platform startup code (in cstart.asm) can now be placed in external memory.
- The Software Platform library is no longer recompiled unnecessarily when the Embedded project is unmodified.
