Component List

This is a list of components found from the schematic sheets of the currently focussed PCB design project. Click one of the components in this list and review its footprints in the Footprints list on the right of this dialog. You can add, remove or edit footprints for the currently highlighted schematic component.

View and Edit Footprints

  • Footprints List - This is a list of footprints associated with the selected component from the Component List on the left of this Footprint Manager dialog. Use the following buttons below (Menu, Add, Remove, Edit, Validate) to manipulate the footprints. Click on one of the footprints and the graphical view of this footprint is displayed below.
  • Menu - Select a component from the Component List and you will see its associated footprints in the Footprints list. You can use the Menu button to select all footprints, add, delete or edit one of the footprints. You can also use the buttons next to the Menu button instead.
  • Add - Click this button to invoke the PCB Model dialog and choose a new footprint model to add for the highlighted schematic component. After selecting the footprint model, you can validate its existence by clicking the Validate button. Once you are happy with the new footprint, you can invoke the engineering changes order dialog by clicking the Accept Changes (Create ECO) button.
  • Remove - Click this button to remove the highlighted footprint that is associated with the schematic component. To bring the changes forward to update the associated PCB document, click on the Accept Changes (Create ECO)button.
  • Edit - Click this Edit button to invoke the PCB Model dialog and review the highlighted footprint's attributes such as the name and the location of the PCB library the footprint comes from.
  • Validate Implementation -  Click this Validate button to validate the existence of the highlighted footprint. If the footprint cannot be found, a Not Validated string appears in the Found In field. If the footprint is validated, a full path to this footprint is displayed in the Found In field.
  • Accept Changes (Create ECO) -  Click this Create ECO button to accept changes to schematic components and their linked footprint models and execute/invoke the engineering change order(ECO) dialog. With the ECO dialog, you can validate and execute the changes after reviewing the modifications made to the footprint values for the corresponding schematic components.
