The Altium Designer Server Reference area is the home for documentation that covers the resources that apply to Altium Designer's range of Servers.

To find reference documentation for a particular server resource, such as a dialog or command, browse through the Servers tree in the navigation pane on the left, or use the Search this space facility shown above.

If you have reached this page by pressing the F1 help key in Altium Designer it's likely that the specific reference you're looking for is not yet available.

Altium is expanding this documentation on a continuous basis, but in the meantime try browsing through the main navigation tree to find a more general section that covers the topic you are looking for.

The Server area documentation includes reference information for all Altium Designer servers, such as the PCB, Schematic and Workspace Manger servers, plus many more.

The documentation for each server is further broken down into resource type (as applicable) and can include:
  • Editors
  • Preferences
  • Objects
  • Panels
  • Processes & Commands
  • Dialogs
  • Wizards

F1 reference help

Note that as you design, you can use Altium Designer’s context sensitive F1 help facility to retrieve the appropriate page from this resource.

If a page for a particular resource hasn't yet been documented, the system is structured to try the next page up in the hierarchy. So if a particular resource (say, a dialog in the PCB editor) does not have a corresponding page in the documentation, an F1 call on that resource will retrieve its next valid parent page (the PCB parent page). This is aimed at providing a soft landing for any missing information until the documentation gap is filled.

See the Browser-Based F1 Resource Documentation for more information.
