Altium Designer 14.3 sees a couple of beneficial improvements to the Schematic Editor in relation to fonts. First of all is a change to the way in which the font is edited for power port objects in Schematic documents, which delivers the same functionality as that enjoyed by other text-based objects (introduced in Altium Designer 13.0). In addition, the SCH Inspector panel now supports the ability to not only edit the current font applied for selected object(s), but also to copy and paste that font setting within the panel.

Editable Fonts for Power Port Objects

A new font control not only provides access to the familiar Font dialog, but also reflects the currently chosen font – applied to the textual attribute of the power object. Available in the main Power Port dialog, this support also extends to the SCH Inspector and SCH List panel.

The new font control offers access to change the font, and also provides visual confirmation of the font currently being applied.

In terms of current font visual indication, the control displays:

  • Font Name
  • Font Size
  • Font Style
Effects are also displayed when enabled (Strikeout, Underline). If Regular is used for the font's style, this will not be displayed visually in the control's string.

Copy/Paste in SCH Inspector Panel

The SCH Inspector panel supports being able to copy the current Font property and paste a replacement font definition directly. The latter doesn't require the value to have been copied from the panel either - you can simply define the required font textually outside of Altium Designer, then paste that string into the panel and press Enter to effect the font change.
