The Processor Memory Definition Dialog.

Summary

This dialog allows designer to set up physical memory block for processor in FPGA project.

Access

In Configure Processor Memory dialog (right click processor in schematic sheet of a FPGA project, choose Configure Processor Memory), right click and select Add Memory or Edit Memory from pop-up menu.

Options/Controls

Name

The unique identifier of this memory device. When the FPGA project is compiled, these memory details will be passed to the embedded software project. This identifier will also be used to uniquely identify the output HEX file. Names cannot contain spaces.

Address Base

This is the processor's view of where the memory appears in the address space. The size can be specified as a decimal or hex value. Examples: 10000, 0x10000, 1k, 64k, 1M

Type

  • Memory Type - Select the memory type: ROM, RAM, Block RAM, Parallel Flash or Memory Mapped Peripheral
  • Memory Speed - Choose the speed of the memory from Slowest to Fastest

The linker uses the relative speed of the memories in such a way that faster memory is used before slower memory

Size

This represents the amount of memory that is available to the processor from this device. The size can be specified as a decimal or hex value. Examples: 10000, 0x10000, 1k, 64k, 1M
