Sheet and Component List - presenting a grid listing the components and sheet symbols detected in the design

Current Settings

For each design entity, which is listed in terms of its designator, the following information is presented under the Current Settings region of the grid:

  • Comment - this is the entry for the Comment property for a component, or the File Name property for a sheet symbol.
  • Type - for a component this is the entry in its Design Item ID property. For a sheet symbol, this field is blank.
  • Lifecycle - Lifecycle of the component. In a board design project that has not been 'converted' to use vault-based Items, all entries will simply carry the state [Not Managed]
  • Revsision Status - Revision of the component. In a board design project that has not been 'converted' to use vault-based Items, all entries will simply carry the state [Unknown]
  • From - this is the entry for the source library from which the component in the design was placed. This entry will be blank for a sheet symbol.

New Settings

The New Settings region simply presents information about the proposed change. It has the same fields as the Current Settings region, but these fields carry slightly different meaning when talking about managed Items:

  • Comment - this is the entry for the Comment property for a Component Item or Schematic Sheet Item.
  • Type - this is the named-revision of the chosen Component Item or Schematic Sheet Item, in the form Item ID-Revision ID (e.g. CMP-00024-A.1).
  • Lifecycle - this is the current lifecycle state of the named-revision of the chosen Component Item or Schematic Sheet Item
  • Revision status -  this is the current revision status of the named-revision of the chosen Component Item or Schematic Sheet Item
  • From - this is the name of the source vault in which the chosen Component Item or Schematic Sheet Item resides.

For multiple instances of the same component used in a design, you can select a group of components and manually choose the required vault-based Item – the choice will be applied to all components in the selection. Standard multi-select features (Ctrl+click, Shift+click) can be used to select the grouping.

Other Controls

  • Update - Tick the box to enable updating for corresponding components.
  • Show - Choose from the drop-down list to filter the information displayed
    • Unmanaged Items - show those items in the board design project that are currently unmanaged, that is, they have not been placed from a vault.
    • Components - toggle the display of component items in the grid
    • Sheet Symbols - toggle the display of sheet symbol items in the grid.
    • Selected Only - only show those items that are currently selected on sheets of the board design project.
  • Group By- Choose from drop-down list to select group by setting.
    • Document - group items according to the source schematic sheet on which they reside.
    • Item-Type - group items according to their type, as determined by their entry in the Type field.
  • Auto-Match Unmanaged - Click this button to start auto matching process. The matching process takes the Design Item ID of an unmanaged item and compares it against the Comment property of managed Items in a vault. When a match is found, that managed Item (Component Item or Schematic Sheet Item) will be proposed for the update

The software will attempt to find a matching managed Item in any currently connected (and enabled) vault.

  • Choose - Click this button to manually choose Vault-based component. When you click on an entry in the grid (say a component), the Choose button becomes available at the bottom-right of the grid. Clicking this will give you access to the Choose Managed Component dialog, from where you can browse within any of your currently connected vaults and select the required Component Item, and specific revision of that Item.
  • Update "Lock Designator" field - Check this option to update "Lock Designator" field from Vault to components.
  • Update "Lock Part-ID" - Check this option to update "Lock Part-ID" field from Vault to components.
  • Update Parameters - Check this option to update parameters from Vault to components.
  • Advanced - If the option to update parameters is enabled, the Advanced button also becomes available. Clicking this will give you access to the Library Update Settings dialog. This dialog lists all parameters found across all components in the design project, and provides full control over what parameters are involved in the update, and how they are updated.
  • Preserve Parameter Location - Check this option to preserve parameter location.
  • Preserve Parameter Visibility - Check this option to preserve parameter visibility.
  • ECO- Click the drop-down list to choose the way to effect the change:
    • Generate ECO - Once changes have been set up as required, click this option to generate an Engineering Change Order (ECO) and browse the actions that will be taken to implement those changes. You can disable any actions as required – you always have full control of what gets changed. When ready, execute the ECO and the changes will be effected.
    • Apply ECO - Choose this to execute the ECO directly. It'll bypass the ECO browsing process.
